Prime Minister to talk TCAP in South Korea

Tuvalu Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Enele Sosene Sopoaga will travel to Songdo in South Korea next week for a tripartite meeting, to discuss issues related to the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project (TCAP).

The tripartite will include the Government of Tuvalu, UNDP- the implementing agency, and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) the funder of the project.

Ms. Pepetua Latasi, Director of the Climate Change and Disaster Department said that this meeting is of high importance to the government, as it will determine GCF’s clearance of Tuvalu’s proposal for an amendment to the coastal protection intervention, initially planned for Funafuti.

Prime Minister is co-chair of TCAP with Secretary to Government Mr. Tine Leuelu and Ms. Pepetua Latasi as board members.

Mr. Tine Leuelu said he, along with Ms. Latasi, and TCAP Coordinator Mr. Alan Resture, will join the Prime Minister and his delegation who will travel to South Korea from Samoa next week.

The meeting will be held for one day on June 5th.
